At summer camp kids can ride a horse, go canoeing or sing songs.
But on Wednesday, one group of girls explored helicopters in St Paul. They are part of the Project Scientist Stem Summer Academy.
Organizers partnered with Collins Aerospace and the Minnesota National Guard to create this field trip to the Army Aviation Facility in St. Paul. The group includes about 40 girls, ages four to 12.
Emma Wissink was impressed talking with female pilots.
“They have to have a lot of skills to drive it with both hands” she said.
The girls learned about how helicopters are made and what it takes to fly them.
