Being a student can be rather stressful at times. It might seem like it’s a fun time in your life when you’re looking forward. However, when the time arrives, and you finally leave home to start college you appreciate how incredibly stressed you’ve become. There’s endless rounds of exams to study for, classes to attend, papers to write, and of course the inevitable college social life you don’t want to miss out on. Learning how to unwind, destress, and recharge your batteries is an important part of college life. Here are some tips to help you.


You might think you haven’t got time or the energy to exercise, but it’s worth squeezing it in somehow. It doesn’t have to be two or three hour’s strenuous exercise. Find time for a brisk 30-minute walk around campus. Take a swim, do some yoga or something else you enjoy.  

Eat Healthily

Your healthy eating habits may have fallen by the wayside when you started college, or you might never have had then. Whatever applies to you, it’s time to get back on track and start eating properly. If you’re not providing the right fuel for your body and brain, you’re going to feel mentally and physically challenged. Get Some Sleep

If you get enough sleep, you’ll find it much easier to concentrate. College life might not lend itself to having a good night’s sleep every night but even one good night’s sleep a week will help you cope with your stressful schedule. If you can’t stick to a regular sleep schedule, try to fit in a quick nap when you need it, or one night a week when you promise to go to bed early.  

Do Something You Enjoy

College may seem like an endless round of classes and studying, so it’s vital you find some time for yourself and do something you enjoy. Talk to Someone

Asking for help doesn’t come easy for most people, but if you don’t ask your friends or family for help how are they going to know you’re feeling stressed out. Take comfort in the fact that you’re really not alone and there are going to be others that will gladly be there when you need a chat over coffee. Talking out your problems may help you realize things aren’t as bad as they seem. If you don’t want to burden a friend or family member, most colleges have a counseling center just for students.

College is a chapter in your life that will leave you with good memories. Don’t spend too much time stressing about all you have to do. Stay focused, have fun, relax, and you’ll soon feel recharged.
